Craft Supply Emergency!

I'm in the middle of working on projects for the nursery, one including mini clothespins that I ran out of. So, the next time I needed to go to Hobby lobby or Walmart I decided I would pick some up then.

This morning I hear Paul pacing in the bedroom and opening the closet and huffing. I asked him what was wrong and he said the shower was backed up with toilet water...ew! Since we have a tall stand up shower this meant it was spilling into the floor. Paul proceeds to call my father in-law to see if we can work around getting a plumber and he told us to try drain o. He comes back into the bedroom to let me know that he is going to need to run to walmart. Here's what I said..."Can you also grab some mini clothespins?"So this makes Paul laugh and he says "In the time of emergency, you think of craft supplies you need!"

So today will be filled with finishing up projects and tonight we will be going to the state fair. What do you have planned for the weekend?

3 Times A Charm

Those of you who have been long time followers know that I've been trying to learn crochet for ages a long time. Every time I sat down to try I just couldn't get any further than a chain link and would give up. Once giving up, I wouldn't pull out my yarn and hooks again until months later. Now that I have a nursery to plan, I've been really wishing I knew how so I could make an afghan to match his crib bedding. Enter craftyminx and her crochet class...it's a dream come true! Dana hosted a series a while back called "A Granny Square A Day" and they were beautiful, not your average granny squares! So I'm excited to join in on her crochet class that starts on October 1st and it's at your own pace so this won't stress me out. Anyone else joining the class? Let's sit together!

Autumn Checklist

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, most of them are listed on my checklist. Every fall I like to make a trip to the pumpkin patch, order a caramel apple spice from Starbucks and dress in tights, boots and sweaters. The weather has been so beautiful here, the sun is still out most of the day and gives off a little warmth without leaving you sweating and wanting water 24/7. I decided to make a checklist of things that I would like to do over the next month. If anyone wants to join in feel free to take the image below and use it!
Does anyone else have a checklist for the season?

28 Weeks

28 weeks today and my pregnancy app tells me I have 84 days to go. I've already started thinking about my birth plan and signing up for the epidural. I'm getting more and more nervous, anxious, and antsy as time goes on. When I logged onto the bump last week I noticed they had transitioned me into the 3rd trimester board. My upcoming appointment is next week and I'll have to take the glucose tolerance test, which is the one thing I've been dreading since the beginning, someone please encourage me on that!

Over the Weekend, Briefly

This weekend was a busy one, but I got a lot of fun mail to make up for it! New (to me) shoes, a home magazine and the deer trophy from Cardboard Safari that we put together for Noah's nursery. What did you do this weekend?

Spoke To Soon

That's right folks, our cucumbers that were blooming beautifully just a week ago are now shriveled up and dead. Our tomato is still going strong, but for some reason the cucumbers failed us. I'm thinking it's the sudden drop in temperature that caused it. Oh well, we'll try again next year!

Nursery Moodboard #3

I've finished arranging the 3rd and final moodboard for nursery inspiration and this is THE ONE! I'm so excited to get started on decorating, but first comes the paint, new carpet and new trim. We're taking this one step at a time so that I don't get ahead of myself and forget the real reason we're creating this nursery, it's not for me.
I numbered and listed sources below for the new items, all of the repeat items can be seen here and here.
1. Vintage woodland animal flash cards found on etsy
2. Spring Greens print by Eloise Renouf
3. Deer trophy from Cardboard Safari
4. Modern Meadow fabric collection by Joel Dewberry
5. Laundry and toy baskets from Hobby Lobby
6. Birch wall stencil from Olive Leaf Stencils
7. Dresser/changing table inspiration from Little Glass Box
8. Gray knit poof from CB2
9. Owl lamp from Modcloth and stump side table from West Elm

N is For...

N is for Noah...the little guy that is still inside my tummy. Due date is December 12th. According to thebump he is currently 2 lbs. and 13-14 inches long. He enjoys being very active these days and listening to classical music with mommy every night before bed.

Noah is going to be 6th generation James (middle name) in my husband's family so it's exciting to have such a special tradition.

Nursery Moodboard #2

Here is nursery idea #2, a little more in the rustic department. I found the fabric just 2 days ago and fell in love with the adorable print. So I quickly created a moodboard to see what it all looked like together. I really like the natural, eco look this one has to it.
1. IKEA Sundvik Crib in white (IKEA is currently not selling this crib, so we picked the BabyMod Modena 3-in-1 from Walmart.
2. Forest Friends fabric from Spoonflower
3. Anthropologie Finishing Touch Knob
4. Behr paint in "Dolphin Fin" and "Ashwood"
5. "D is For Deer" art print by Gingiber and deer head from Cardboard Safari
6. Owl lamp from Target and shade from Target
7. IKEA Bekvam Spice Rack (use these for book shelves like here)
8. Mid-century console table given to us for free (will be converted into a changing table)
9. Yellow Fox pillow by Gingiber
10. EZ Mod Faux Eames Rocker in green

How Does Your Garden Grow?

I posted about starting our own garden here and have yet to give any updates because our plants, like many around here have not produced any signs of moving forward other than getting taller. My hubby is determined to keep these things going, he waters them day and night, even on the days when we've had 100+ weather. Yesterday, he was excited to tell me we were getting the start of cucumbers and tomatoes. I was so glad to hear that all that watering and not giving up paid off!
I'll keep you posted on the progress and will let you know when we have full produce.

DIY: $2 Hurricane

First of all I want to say that I am not the first one to make these Dollar Tree hurricanes, I found the idea on good ole pinterest. With fall just around the corner I knew I wanted to make these for some of my fall decorating. They are so easy and require hardly any time!
Here's what you'll need:
-vase
-candle stick
-E-6000 or hot glue
There is only one step to this project so that's why I say "hardly any time." It's kinda obvious, but all you need to do it apply a ring of glue using E-6000 or hot glue around the candle stick and place the vase directly in the center and hold in place for a few seconds. Let it dry and viola! A hurricane for $2.
