OSL Has a New Look!

I had been working on a new blog design for about a month. Ever since we had planned for family photos that is. I was in a desperate need of new photos on this blog so what better time than after getting family photos done. The ones I had been using are 2 years old. I'm in the process of making category pages to make the searches on my blog a little easier so bare with me while I make more changes. For now, I thought I'd share my new design with those who read my blog via google reader and blog lovin. Let me know what you think! Oh, and I'm thinking of doing blog designs so if you're interested email me at ohsolovelyhandmade@gmail.com

First Father's Day

I can't believe I'm a week behind at posting about Paul's first Father's Day! I left for camp the Monday after and didn't get a chance to schedule a post dedicated to him. I'll start by saying he is the best daddy ever (clique I know)! I've watched him grow closer to Noah as he gets older. Noah is a momma's boy, but he loves his daddy in a special way. I have a feeling they will be the best of friends even when he's older. Paul has stepped in to take care of Noah since day 1 and that to me is the best thing he can give as a father besides love. I am so proud of him for taking on the mommy role while I was away at camp and doing such a good job! Happy 1st father's day (again) to my husband Paul!

ps. we had family photos taken a couple of weeks ago and this was one of the sneak peeks. I'll share more soon!

Vintage Youth Camp

I'm back from youth camp! I had fun as always being a dorm mom, but by Wednesday I was homesick and missed my husband and baby terribly! Everyone was surprised that I was leaving my 6 month old behind, but I knew if he came along I wouldn't get much done at camp. Usually Paul comes as a dorm dad, but he didn't have the vacation time at work so he stayed behind to work and Noah stayed with a lady from our church during the day.

This year the theme was Vintage and I of course, loved it! Wednesday night was vintage dress-up and they had a photo booth set up in the foyer of the tabernacle. We got some shots of Noah in the frames before he left me on Monday.

I heard that this year the sno cones were "life changing," I'm not so sure...they were good though! I'll have to remember that strawberry+pineapple+coconut make a yummy concoction!

Our girls got "dorm of the day" 3 days in a row. We had the cleanest dorm so we won a trophy everyday and took it home on Friday.

That's about it! Just a great time with our students and awesome services that were filled with God's presence! I'm glad to be back home!

weekend finds

I went to Goodwill on Friday and came across this ornate mirror. It was instant love and I was envisioning it in our bedroom above the dresser. At only $8.50, it was well worth the price for a before and after project. I think I'll paint it white.

A friend and I went garage selling and visited some antique shops on Saturday. I found the vintage pillowcase and first aid kit tin. I am thinking of hanging the first aid kit tin on the wall in the bathroom. Projects coming soon!

thrifted: vintage floral sheet

I have a hard time passing up a good vintage linen, especially when it is a pattern I have not seen before. It is my weakness. I have noticed a color combination in my stash and it is yellows and pinks. Looks like I may need to start eyeing the blues and greens.

What about you, any collections or obsessions?

Garden 2012

A new year...a new garden! Last year's garden wasn't very successful due to the high heat we had in the summer. At one point we did end up getting some growth, but it turned out to be a mini cucumber and the tomatoes had a growth stunt. This year we have the same type of plants. The strawberries, which aren't pictured, are still alive from last year. I didn't take a photo of it because something has decided to chew holes in the leaves. Anyone have a solution for keeping the animals off the strawberries? Everything else seems to good to go! I'll keep you all updated throughout the process...

Mini Haul (Gap)

Anyone who has a boy (and probably everyone else) knows that you can not find cute boy clothes hardly anywhere. When Paul and I found out we were having a boy we scoured all the stores for the perfect little outfits. I knew from the get go I didn't want clothes with cartoons on it, even animals on everything drove me crazy. In the end, we ended up with some outfits that had that stuff on it because that was all that was out there. The only stores that I have been able to find fashionable baby boy clothes is Old Navy and Gap. A few weeks ago Paul and I went to a local outdoor shopping area and came across a great clearance section in Baby Gap. Everything was an additional 40% off the clearance price. I got 4 items for $30, which was the original price of the gray jacket.

Here's the breakdown: cotton button up shirt $5.99 // red stripe romper $5.99 // red cardigan $10.19 // gray jacket $5.98 // grand total $30.55 (includes tax).

Yay for a good deal and adorable boy clothes!

Green

My mother in-law gave me a stem from her rose of sharon bush and told me to place it in some water and it should grow roots so that I can plant it in my yard. I've been checking it everyday. Nothing yet. Also, Paul has been taking care of this year's garden. I'll share that post with you soon. If you've been reading since last spring, you know that our garden last year was unsuccessful due to the VERY HOT summer we had. It was the hottest summer in history. So far this year they're all doing very well.

What about you, any gardens this year?

Happy National Doughnut Day!

Today Paul did a half day at work so he could take the rest of the afternoon off and we could get things done. We applied for our passports and then went to Krispy Kreme to celebrate National Doughnut Day. Noah enjoyed ripping his hat to pieces while we enjoyed the (too sweet) doughnuts. These are the memories I hope to never forget, the random ones!

PS. Check out this month's sponsors, there's some really great blog reads over there, I've already been checking them out myself!
